NASA’s Orion Capsule Lands Safely In Pacific After Moon Orbit

The non-manned flight on Sunday parachuted into the Pacific off of the Mexico coast.

  • The capsule splashed down at about 10 a.m. local time off Mexico’s Baja California near Guadalupe Island.
  • A Navy ship recover the spacecraft and its three test dummies wired with vibration sensors and radiation monitors.
  • The successful trip in a big next step toward a manned flight around the moon targeted for 2024.
  • The manned trip if successful would be followed by a two-person lunar landing as early as 2025.
