NEW: Willis Claims Evidence About Relationship With Wade Should Be Excluded

New cellphone data indicates that special prosecutor Nathan Wade visited the residence of District Attorney Fani Willis far more often than previously admitted prior to his appointment to lead the prosecution.

Attorneys representing Donald Trump filed the submission, suggesting more than 35 visits by Wade, raising more questions about his relationship with Willis and whether this could potentially affect the case’s integrity.

Willis countered the allegations late Friday in a court filing, questioning the relevance of the evidence. She contended that the records merely show the proximity of Wade’s phone to a densely populated area and argued that the evidence should be excluded.

Trump’s legal team referenced cellphone tower data, arguing it tracked Wade’s movements, implying a discrepancy with his testimony that cited no more than 10 visits to Willis’ residence before his hiring in November 2021. They marked two specific instances when Wade was allegedly in the vicinity overnight, months before he and Willis claimed their relationship began in early 2022.

Both Wade and Willis, under oath, denied having spent nights together at the Hapeville condo before their relationship’s official start.

This revelation is crucial for its implications on anti-nepotism considerations and the veracity of their sworn testimonies. A breach in the timeline of their relationship raises ethical questions and the possibility of perjury.

The document includes an affidavit by investigator Charles Mittelstadt, detailing the acquisition of Wade’s cellphone data through a subpoena. Mittelstadt’s analysis, conducted via CellHawk, a tool utilized by law enforcement across the United States, showcased extensive communication between Willis and Wade throughout 2021, with more than 2,000 calls and nearly 10,000 text messages exchanged.
