• The South Carolina Freedom Caucus (SCFC) has shut down a “pediatric transition clinic” connected to the Medical University of South Carolina.
• The SCFC is a group of South Carolina-based Republican lawmakers modeled after the national “Freedom Caucus,” and pressured the MUSC Pediatric Transgender Clinic to shut down after a FOIA request for more information from the clinic and proposed legislation intended to stop transgender surgeries on minor children.
• “Officials from MUSC have informed us that they will no longer be providing morally and ethically repugnant ‘gender affirming care’ that results in irreparable harm for minors,” said SCFC Chairman Adam Morgan in a statement.
