Students’ ACT Scores Lowest In 30 Years

  • ACT college admissions tests dropped to their lowest level in 30 years.
  • The average composite score for the class of 2022 was a 19.8 out of 36, the first time it has fallen under 20 points since 1991.
  • The number of students taking the ACTs has fallen 30 percent just since 2018, as more universities have made ACT and SAT testing optional for admissions.
