In a new interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, Russian President Vladimir Putin has made the assertion that real power in the United States does not lie with elected officials, including President Joe Biden, but rather with an unelected deep state that perpetually maintains control. This controversial statement came amid his discussion on the influences governing American politics.

“President Joe Biden is not running the United States,” Putin reportedly told Carlson, according to AFP.

“The same forces which have always run it,” he continued, per reports. “You may change presidents but you do not change those in real power. That is who we have to deal with. Joe Biden is just a facade for this power structure.”

Putin’s remarks to Carlson suggest that regardless of which party’s president is in office, the underlying power structure remains constant and is the true driver behind U.S. policy and actions.

Tucker Carlson verified that he traveled to Moscow for an exclusive interview with the Russian President, marking him as the first significant figure in American media to have such direct access to Putin since the onset of Russia’s extensive military actions in Ukraine nearly two years ago.

According to Carlson, the comprehensive interview is slated to be released imminently and occurs at a time when there is a global reconfiguration due to the ongoing conflict. The journalist outlined the potential risks involved in conducting this type of interview, which says was thought through meticulously over several months.

Carlson emphasized the importance for Americans to be better informed about the developments of the war, including Putin’s motivations and objectives, stating that despite widespread lack of knowledge, it’s crucial for the public to attain as much understanding as possible. Carlson clarified that the intent of the interview was not to express affinity for Putin or to endorse the Russian leader’s views, but rather to provide a platform for Americans and the global audience to gain insight directly from a key figure in world events.
