Texas Working To Build More Border Wall In State Than Trump Did

Texas Governor Greg Abbott asserted on Thursday that Texas is set to surpass the amount of border wall constructed by the Trump administration in the state of Texas.

During a press conference held at Shelby Park, Abbott proudly declared, “Texas is the first and only state in the history of the United States of America to build our own border wall.”

Abbott emphasized, “If you look at the amount of wall already constructed and the amount of wall that is going to be under construction, Texas will have built more of the Trump border wall than even Trump built in the state of Texas.”

Furthermore, the Lone Star State has erected approximately 160 miles of barriers, which include razor wire fencing, anti-climb barriers, Conex boxes, and buoys in the river, in addition to the wall, as per Abbott’s statement.

Amid the ongoing migrant crisis, Texas has intensified its enforcement efforts along the southern border, with Abbott characterizing it as “the biggest border crisis since America had borders.” According to the governor, the Texas Department of Public Safety has made over 39,000 criminal arrests, apprehended more than 480,000 migrants in the country illegally, deterred over 95,000 illegal entries, conducted more than 4,300 bailouts, and filed over 19,000 charges for smuggling.

Additionally, Abbott highlighted that the Texas National Guard has turned away over 90,000 individuals attempting to cross the border illegally. As a result of these collective measures, there has been a notable reduction in the number of individuals entering the US through Texas.
