Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report disclosed that President Biden’s ghostwriter, Mark Zwonitzer, will not face charges despite deleting evidence related to the sharing of classified material during the investigation.

Zwonitzer, who collaborated with Biden on his memoir “Promise Me, Dad,” erased audio files containing “significant evidentiary value,” as outlined in the report.

Zwonitzer admitted to the FBI that he was aware of the ongoing investigation when he deleted the evidence. Hur initiated the investigation into Biden’s improper retention of classified records last year, including documents concerning military and foreign policy in Afghanistan, among other national security-related records.

The report stated that when questioned about deleting the recordings to obstruct the investigation, Zwonitzer denied such intentions. It further noted that the investigation did not uncover evidence of Zwonitzer’s communication with anyone regarding his decision to delete the recordings.

Despite finding evidence that Biden “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials” post-vice presidency, Hur will not recommend criminal charges against him.

The materials in question included marked classified documents about military and foreign policy in Afghanistan, as well as notebooks containing Biden’s handwritten entries on national security and foreign policy issues implicating sensitive intelligence sources and methods.
