TikTok is causing trouble again with a new door-knock challenge that has fire officials on high alert.
“You don’t want to have a situation where there is a fire, and there is no fire extinguisher to help extinguish the fire because you were playing games,” former DeKalb County Fire Captain Eric Jackson said.
Jackson was shocked by this surveillance video showing someone knocking on a person’s door in the Edgewood community, then spraying a fire extinguisher on them and in their home. The issue is among the latest TikTok pranks.
“The idea of expelling it in someone’s face is bad in and within itself. Now the contents inside of the fire extinguisher are pressurized so when you squeeze the handle, it’s going to come out forcefully it’s going to push you back, it may even disorientate you,” added Jackson.
In addition to the disorientation, Jackson said even though the chemicals inside fire extinguishers are nontoxic, there could be other negative impacts.
“They can cause any sort of skin irritation, or if it’s expelled into someone’s face, some eye irritation, or down their throat, causing lung irritation,” Jackson said.
