In a virtual court hearing held in New York City on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump made an appearance as a judge announced that his trial will commence on March 25, 2024.
The date falls several months before the 2024 presidential election. Trump had previously entered a plea of not guilty in April to 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection to a hush money payment made in 2016.
While actively participating in the upcoming presidential race, Trump has been directed by New York State Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan to refrain from sharing any evidence provided by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on social media platforms during the ongoing pre-trial discovery phase.
