USDA Announces $500 Million Stimulus For Domestic Fertilizer Production

- Grants will be used to support supplying American farmers with “independent, innovative and sustainable American fertilizer production.”
- The USDA announcement sparked intrigue from experts, including Agronomist Emerson Nafziger, who said, “Increase domestic production of fertilizer; that is not a phrase we have ever heard from the federal government.”
- “It’s pretty unusual for the government in the U.S. to try to manipulate supply for inputs like that,” according to Nafziger.
