Woman Arrested After $2,500 Worth Of Stanley Cups Found In Car

A woman in Roseville, Placer County, California, was arrested last week for allegedly stealing 65 Stanley stainless steel drinking cups, amounting to almost $2,500 in value, from a local store. The incident, reported on January 17, prompted a response from Roseville police.

Store staff observed the woman taking a shopping cart filled with Stanley water bottles without making a purchase. Refusing to stop for staff, she loaded her car with the stolen merchandise.

An officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle entering Highway 65 from Galleria Blvd and initiated a traffic stop, leading to the arrest of the 23-year-old woman from Sacramento on charges of grand theft.

Images released by the police depict the trunk and passenger seat of her car filled with various Stanley cups. The popularity of Stanley cups has surged in recent months, driven by a trend fueled by social media influencers.

The “Quencher” cup, holding 40 fluid ounces and retailing at $45 on the Stanley website, has particularly gained popularity.

While acknowledging the popularity of Stanley Quenchers, the police issued a statement cautioning against resorting to criminal activities to satisfy the trend, stating, “While Stanley Quenchers are all the rage, we strongly advise against turning to crime to fulfill your hydration habits.”
