Elon Musk: No Free Lunch At Twitter Headquarters

Musk issues mandate for return to in-office work

  • Elon Musk announced that Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters will no longer be serving free meals because the meals cost the company approximately $400 for each worker.
  • A former Twitter employee who quit after Musk assumed leadership of the social media company claimed Musk was lying and said breakfast and lunch cost approximately 20 to 25 dollars per person per day with attendance ranging from 20 percent to 50 percent in the office.
  • Musk fired back, saying Twitter spends an estimated $13 million per year on food service at the San Francisco headquarters and that average office occupancy was below 10 percent.
  • “There are more people preparing breakfast than eating breakfast. They don’t even bother serving dinner, because there is no one in the building,” Musk tweeted.
