Authorities Identify Minnesota Police Officers, Paramedic Fatally Shot In Line Of Duty

Authorities on Monday identified the two Minnesota police officers and one paramedic fatally shot this past weekend whens responding to a call in Burnsville, a suburb of the Twin Cities.

Burnsville city officials identified the victims as Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge and firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth.

Sgt. Adam Medlicott, 38, was also shot but is expected to survive.

The incident occurred Sunday at about 1:50 a.m. when the officers responded to a call for a possibly armed suspect inside a house and several people also barricaded inside, including children from 2 to 15.

Law enforcement reportedly spent hours negotiating with the suspect, then paramedics came in for backup at about 5 a.m.

The yet-to-be suspect was reported dead at about 8 a.m., and the family members inside the home exited safely a short time later.
