AZ County Plans To Hand Count Ballots To Prevent Fraud

  • Cochise County, Ariz., is bucking Secretary of State Katie Hobbs with its plans to count all votes by hand to “protect their voters from potential fraud.”
  • The southern Arizona county’s Board of Supervisors voted 2-1 to approve a full hand count following the Nov. 8 election. Two Republican supervisors voted for the measure, one Democrat supervisor voted against it.
  • The State Elections Services is threatening a lawsuit, and Hobbs, a Democrat who is running for governor, called the measure “illegal” and said it “risks the integrity and accuracy of the election.”
