Bipartisan House Group Heads To Detroit To Urge US Automakers Be Less Reliant On China

  • A bipartisan group of House members will go to Detroit on Tuesday to urge the CEOs of Ford Motor and General Motors to lessen their reliance on China auto parts, particularly electric vehicle batteries.
  • The trip is being reported by Reuters based on sources.
  • The congressmen are all members of the House’s China Select Committee and include Reps. Mike Gallagher and John Moolenaar, Republicans, and  Raja Krishnamoorthi and Haley Stevens, Democrats.
  • They will meet with Ford’s Jim Farley and GM’s Mary Barra and with executives from such auto suppliers as  BorgWarner and battery startup Our Next Energy .
