France Consider Fines On Fast Fashion Brands – Citing Environmental, Impulse Buying Concerns

French lawmakers are proposing steep fines – up to 50 of the profits – for ultra fast-fashion retailers like Shein and others.

Among their concerns are such brands churning out must-have clothes, which they say is fueling a buy-and-toss culture and a too much environmental waste.

French Environment Minister Christophe Bechu has announced plans to ban advertising by such companies and introduce a financial incentives system to make sustainable fashion more affordable.

Such. concerns have been raised in other countries but appear so far to plan to impose financial penalties on offenders
