- Pope Francis in his Easter message Sunday emphasized hope and invoked prayers for Ukrainians and Russians, whose countries are at war with each other.
- Tens of thousands of people celebrated the Easter Mass in St. Peter’s Square, in Vatican City, in Rome.
- Francis also said Easter’s joy “illumines the darkness and gloom in which, all too often, our world finds itself enveloped.”
