The Chairman of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, Brad Wenstrup (R-OH), has issued a warning to Randi Weingarten, President of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), stating that he may issue a subpoena if she fails to provide requested documents.
The documents pertain to Weingarten’s communication with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Biden transition team regarding the reopening of schools during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a spokesperson for Wenstrup, the Select Subcommittee has made repeated efforts to collaborate with the AFT in a mutually beneficial manner. However, Weingarten and her team have consistently impeded the Subcommittee’s investigation and refused to cooperate with Chairman Wenstrup and his staff.
